Chasing the Dream

Every summer thousands of girls from all over Russia come to Moscow in high hopes of fulfilling their lifetime dream - to become the next star of the stage. Many universities spend tons of money on promotion. Perhaps Moscow theatre schools need to spend the same amount of money on anti-promotion because every year the toll of the enrollees is breaking the limits. One of them is the Moscow Art Theatre School which is an affiliation of the Moscow Art Theatre founded by Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko. This is the Theatre where Anton Chekhov staged his famous plays. The atmosphere during the entrance exams is so stressful and the demands are so high that for most of the girls the chances to get pie in the sky are too vague if not zero. The competitive selection ratio is 500 applicants for one position but they don't want to give up trying. Despite failures many of them continue to come back here every year to pursue the dream. The reward is worth the ventures as the graduates become successors of centuries of the glorious Russian theatre tradition.
